Greetings! I created this campaign to off-set my lost income due to Covid-19 and its impact on my jewelry business (Ruth Rhiannon Designs:  Feather Earrings and Adornments, which is my main means of earning income) and my ability to support my small family of three.  Through this fundraiser I hope to create a financial cushion to allow me the time to build my (new) businesses online and provide for basic needs in the month(s) ahead when I have no income. I am a self-employed jewelry artist specializing in feather earrings and adornments. I hand-make and hand-curate each feather, with an eye for symmetry and quality construction. Usually this is the time of year my in-person sales increase, as would my wholesale orders to retail stores who carry my designs.  Usually I vend at craft-fairs, markets, and other events, while actively increasing my wholesale accounts.  My events for March and April have been cancelled, and I foresee the potential of some rather large events to be cancelled in May, and the stores where I wholesale are closed and not re-ordering at this time. For my Jewelry Business I estimate that 50% of my income comes from in-person sales and 50% from my wholesale accounts, thus the amount I have chosen to fundraise represents a conservative estimation of total income lost due to the COVID-19 Virus and its impact on my business for March and April. I also teach  in-person jewelry making and dance instruction, which is a small amount of my monthly income.  I had planned to start teaching again this April and May, but have had to cancel. I will be exploring the possibility of offering weekly Zoom dance instruction, but it takes time to set up and attract new students, and nothing is sure as far as expected income with a new business platform.  I am a single-mother of two beautiful daughters, age 6 and 12, and though their father is able to offer some additional support during the future 6 weeks of school closures,  he will also be working during the school closures required in Oregon through April 28, and the responsibility to home-school our children while searching for alternate means of income is mine and I feel the overwhelm, while also doing my best to see the gift of having to slow down, take stock, and re-orient my entire business to online retail for now.   With the help of these funds I will be able to rest assured that my basic needs are provided for such as: --Utilities for my home and home studio --Bills like car insurance/credit cards/storage --Food and my ability to stock up on supplies as needed (I have enough food for about two weeks, but then NO ADDITIONAL INCOME AS OF NOW for the MONTHS OF APRIL AND MAY) Business Expenses: --% of rent for my home studio --website/etsy/marketing --invest in updating website and promote online sales outlets through SEO and perhaps hiring a web designer? --initial purchase of supplies to make jewelry from projected increase in online jewelry sales (hopefully) Home Rent--I am blessed to receive a monthly distribution which pays for my home rent, but I usually earn the income needed to provide for everything else through my Jewelry Business. I am actively researching ways to receive support through local and governmental organizations, while problem solving and planning ahead to the best of my ability.
