Welcome, Jett! Born 17 weeks early!

I would like for all of you to meet Jett Barrick. Jett was so excited to meet his family that he got in a bit of a hurry and arrived a little earlier than expected... 17 weeks earlier. He was born at 23 weeks gestation, weighing just 1 pound 6 ounces, and measuring 12 inches long. Thanks to the grace of God and a wonderful medical team watching over him he is getting stronger by the minute. But he and his family still have a very long road ahead of them.
This young couple would be the last to ever ask for help and the first to help others. That's why we are here asking for them. As you can imagine, they will be faced with months of unexpected expenses. They live and work about 50 miles from the hospital where tiny Jett will be spending the next 17 weeks. Luckily, his mommy's job allows her some time off, but his daddy will have to go back to work very soon. He will want to see his son as much as possible, which will mean 100 mile round trip drives after he gets off work at night, as well as overnight hotel stays on the weekends. Mommy will try to stay where local support groups can help, but will be faced with lots of hotel, gas, and other living expenses that come from staying away from home for long periods of time. The couple also has a three year old daughter at home that they are trying to balance time with, as well.
