Jesup Scouts Replacement Fund

Donation protected
In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 9, the Scout booth in downtown Jesup was broken into and the more than $13,000 was stolen from the secure location. The police and other community authorities were contacted and a report was filed. The Jesup Cub Scouts from Pack 3095 and Boy Scouts from Troop 1095 had served hundreds of meals at Jesup Farmers Day July 6-8, raising nearly $12,000. (The additional funds stolen was the start-up cash the Scouts used from their own account.) The community of Jesup has always been a strong supporter of the Scouts, and this year was no exception. The funds raised during Farmers Day are used to help send boys to summer camp, purchase equipment, and keep the Scout tradition strong in the community.  Anyone interested in making a donation to help replace some of the stolen funds may do so at BankIowa or Farmers State Bank, Jesup locations, or at the GoFundMe page that has been set up for this purpose at https://www.gofundme.com/jesup-scouts-replenishment-fund.

“We are absolutely amazed at how incredible the community of Jesup is. Once again, they were very supportive of our food booth over the weekend during Jesup Farmers Day, fueled by Miller’s Top Fuel BBQ. The last two years have been record setters at our booth and we were very happy with how the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts worked together, along with all the hard work of the leaders, to make this weekend a huge success. You can imagine our pain to learn all the money from the booth had been stolen. One of the Scout laws says “A Scout is Cheerful,” meaning that we look on the bright side of life.  We are doing our best as we rally together to look on the positive side of what was a wonderful weekend, and just would like the community to know how much their support meant to us. We will certainly work hard at re-earning this money through other fundraising efforts.”  ~ Scoutmaster Kyle Troyer
