Jess’s 4th Hair Donation

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

My name is Jessica and I am currently hiking the Appalachian Trail Northbound. I have hiked 1,250 of the 2,200 miles so far. By the end of my journey I will have a full head of hair (14 inches) and am fundraising to shave my head, donate my hair and donate the funds raised to the Elizabeth Stone House and Families. This fundraiser will be supporting Wilderness Heals which is a pledge hike that allows an all-female group to hike for three days on parts of the Appalachian Trail. As a female hiker on the AT I think that creating an opportunity for fellow females to get outdoors, heal and experience personal empowerment is very important.

About the Elizabeth Stone House and Families:
The Stone House helps homeless and at-risk survivors of domestic violence, substance abuse and mental illness to achieve greater safety and stability. The pledge hike allows for women to explore the White Mountains of NH while creating an experience for all levels of ability.

About the Appalachian Trail:
The Appalachian Trail is 2,200 miles long; going from Georgia to Maine and crosses over 14 states. It runs along the ridges of the Appalachian Mountain chain and usually takes hikers 5-7 months to complete this journey.

About Jess:
For those of you that already know me donating my hair and fundraising money is no surprise. I originally started doing this to raise money for cancer foundations while donating my hair to a good cause. I found that donating my hair was rewarding because I was able to give something every couple of years to people that needed it. Over the years I have raised over $5,000 and have donated 36 inches of hair. This fundraiser is special to me because I am currently hiking the trail and want to be able to give other women the opportunity to hike this trail also. So far the trail has been male dominated and with little diversity. I believe that the outdoors can do wonders for us all and I would love to support more women on their own journey. I wanted to give to an organization that empowers women both mentally and physically. On the trail hikers look after each other like one big family and it has inspired me to do the same for women that deserve this rewarding experience.

Thank you all for your time and support! I’m only a little more than halfway on this trip but as soon as I reach my goal my hair will be donated and ALL the funds will be given to Elizabeth Stone House.
