Jessie Oliver grew up in the Midwest; perhaps in a neighborhood that looked a lot like yours. Jessie’s family was safe and predictable; maybe yours was too. But like all of our stories, we eventually discover tiny tragedies in the cracks of the pavement we use to make chalk-art on. In college, Jessie found herself blindsided by the disbanding of her family at the hands of divorce, infidelity and abandonment. “This EP is my journey from anger, hope, back to bitterness and all the way through to miraculous healing. It is the story of how God gave me the wings I needed to be set free from the pressures of this life and soar on a breeze filled with grace.”
A soul-pop inspirational album of original songs, Jessie’s sole purpose as an artist is to meet listeners right where they are at. She hopes her story told through song is nothing more than a lyrical bridge giving purpose and meaning to others’ tragedies and triumphs.
“If I could impact one person's heart with my music; filling someone with hope, joy, or a new love and value for themselves–mission accomplished.” Having emerged from the ashes of an identity she is now rebuilding, she feels blessed to have discovered a love that doesn't keep score. A love that she desperately needs to share with the world. “I truly ache for those who feel forgotten, abandoned, used, or lost. I wish to instill love, value, passion and hope–knowing we were all created for a purpose and we have all been given gifts and talents.”
Jessie Oliver sings songs that probably sound a lot like the ones you would write. That is because her music is an interpretation of the heart–laid bare and open. Jessie believes everyone has a story. “Some songs on this album were never meant for others to hear, however, my hope is that if I can be vulnerable enough with my story perhaps that can grant permission for someone else to let go of what has been holding them down.”
