Help Jessica fix her home

UPDATE: 3/25/18

This is the power of "US"!!! I couldn't have done any of these without YOU and for that I want to say THANK YOU!!! There are some amazing updates that happened in the past couple of weeks, and I can't wait to share them with you. A special thanks to those that donated money, or their time, or both. A special thank you to my husband Wendall who installed the floors and helped paint, Robert  - installed the kitchen and fixed the front stairs, Melissa and Clay - fixing the bathrooms and many other things, and Ryan for helping paint. Thank you all for giving some of your time for this cause. :)

Something that started with me wanting to get some money to buy Jessica some kitchen cabinets and a sink, has turned into a full-blown project. We pained the common living areas, fixed the floors in the kitchen and laundry room and have started to collect funds for the living room floor. There are other things that need to be replaced, like bathroom cabinets/sink, installing a new shower in both bathrooms and replacing the floors in the kids bedrooms and Jessica's bedroom...but in time I think it will be done, it's just a matter of time and money. :)

Below is a pic of the kitchen before any work was done.

Purchased countertops, kitchen sink, faucet, kitchen cabinets, and kitchen floor.
Kitchen was given a fresh new coat of paint and new flooring was installed.

Laundry room before and after:

Next Steps:

Install baseboards in all the areas the floor was fixed.

Purchase the living room floor - probably laminate flooring and install it.

Important: If you have some money and you don't know what to do with them :) :) :) lol...Please consider giving Jessica a helping hand. Every little bit is welcome, even $20.

Sincerely,
Larisa Holiday

Below is my first posting and where you can find more about Jessica story:
"Jessica is a wonderful woman and has been my friend for a couple of years now. She is a single mother of four, from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jessica has been raising her children by herself, and has been living in a mobile home her grandfather bought her 10 years ago. She has always worked and provided for her children, and currently works as a teacher at a pre-school. She loves her job and the children she works with.  I can personally say that she has a gift with kids; my children love when she comes to visit me. She is currently a student at the local community college (CNM), pursuing an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She wants to get her teaching license and hoping to eventually get her batchelors in the same field.

Jessica's home is over 30 years old, and she started having problems with the plumbing a couple of years ago, which were fixed, but would always come back again. The plumbing issues damaged the floor in the lundry room and kitchen area, which caused large holes in the floor; you could basically see the dirt under the trailer, so with winter coming it became a real issue.

Below are pictures of the water damage:

Jessica was able to qualify for a low income funding program that fixed the holes in the floor and her dad was able to finally fix any remaining plumbing issues. Unfortunatelly, there was water damage to her kitchen cabinets, and they were too damaged to be put back together. The state funding only assured that the house was warm, so they were not able to fix the kitchen cabinets. Here are some pictures of the floor after it was fixed. The below picture is where the kitchen sink would be.
Currently, Jessica is missing part of her kitchen, she does not have a kitchen sink, which is a big problem. She has to use her bathroom sink for any kitchen chores.       Also, there are some missing cabinets that would need to be put back in.Because of the floor repairs, she would also need new kitchen flooring to be put.

Here is a picture of her bathroom and how she has to wash dishes now.

Any money received from this campaign will be used to fix the kitchen: get a new sink, cabinets and new flooring. If there is extra money, it will be used to fix other issues in the house. The mobile home is over 30 years old and the bathrooms are in dire need of repair.

The cabinets in this bathroom need to be changed soon.

It is hard to come up with the money to fix these issues on a pre-school teacher's salary, and also being a single mother. After hearing what she's been through for the last couple of months, I decided to start this campain, so all of us could help.

I will be posting updates and pictures of anything that gets done. Please consider donating any amount you can, every little bit counts. Also, please consider sharing this page on Facebook and other social media sites, or email it to your friends, if possible.

Thank you again!!! It's a New Year, and a new opportunity to help someone in need. Thank you and God bless!!"
