Jessica's Vermont Residency

My name is Jessica Clark, I am an artist, educator and mother. I have recently been selected for a 4-week long residency at the Vermont Studio Center. Due to the strength of my application I was only awarded a partial fellowship, totaling $1,150. I need additional funds to pay the remaining $2,800 balance, buy a plane ticket and ship my supplies, and artwork, to and from Vermont. Any additional funds will be used to buy out my work-exchange award.
During my residency I plan to start a new body of work that focuses on my memories growing up in the south as Lumbee. Previous work was based on personal photographs and focused on realism. With this new work I hope to show my evolution as an artist and woman, grappling with identity, changing family dynamics and cultural issues. The goal is to create a series of drawings and mixed media paintings.
A $300 deposit is due by April 11th, 2018 and the remaining balance of $2,500 is due by April 26th.
Due to my busy schedule I have been unable to create new artwork and this residency will allow me to focus primarily on my art for an extended period of time. Your donations would mean the world and help contribute to a growing body of work that highlights and preserves southeastern native american culture.
