Jessica & Josi's Hurricane Relief

If anybody knows Josi and I you know that we are just about as stubborn as they come when it comes to asking for help. We will literally wait until the absolute last minute to ask for help... but, sometimes you have to put your pride aside and realize that you can't achieve everything on your own. Josi & I just found out that our apartment is completely submerged in flood water caused by Hurricane Harvey. Before the storm hit we grabbed a few personal items, clothes to last four to five days, our two dogs and our cat, and went to Austin, Texas to avoid the flooding. Being from Chicago we had no idea of what to expect and now we don't really know what our next options are. We live on the first floor and were told that our apartment complex was flooded to the second floor...meaning we lost everything. Material possessions can always be replaced and I am glad that we are safe but at the same time, we literally lost everything. We aren't able to go back to fully assess the damage right now but as you can imagine, we are devastated. We have renter's insurance but when we called to make a claim we were informed that natural disasters were not covered in the policy. We applied for FEMA but we do not know of any other resources available to us. Aside from donating, if anybody knows any other helpful resources that are available, we would greatly appreciate it. We believe that people endure tragedies before they receive their greatest blessings so we are trying to stay optimistic about our situation.
