<div>Ich bin im Westen Kenias in einer Großfamilie aufgewachsen, ohne finanzielle Stabilität. Schon früh hatte ich eine Leidenschaft für Landwirtschaft und träumte davon, irgendwann meine eigene Farm zu haben.

<div>Zuerst habe ich an der Uni Viehzucht studiert. Die Praxis hat mich aber mehr interessiert. Deshalb bin ich 2016 nach Südafrika gereist und habe dort bis 2017 viel über Geflügelzucht gelernt. Zurück in Kenia habe ich mich in die Kleinlandwirtschaft gewagt und mich mit anderen zusammengetan. Dort habe ich ein gutes Verständnis für die Agrarwirtschaft entwickelt.

<div>2022 reiste ich als Landwirtschaftsexperte für ein Praktikum nach Europa und vertiefte mein Wissen über moderne landwirtschaftliche Techniken.

<div><em>Ein glücklicher Zufall: </em>In dieser Zeit stieß ich auf das kollektive Landprojekt SoliLe e.V. (Verein solidarisch Leben), das 2023 Land gekauft hatte und nach neuen Mitstreiter:innen suchte – genau die Erfahrung und Expertise, die ich mitbrachte.

<div><em>Schritt für Schritt: </em>Ich wuchs ins Kollektiv hinein und lernte dabei auch andere Kleinbauernhöfe und Solidarische Landwirtschaften (SoLaWi) in der Umgebung kennen. Durch dieses Netzwerk und die gegenseitige Unterstützung, wie etwa das Ausleihen von Geräten oder den Austausch von Erfahrungen, sind wir jetzt an dem Punkt, an dem wir auf unserem Land, ein eigenes landwirtschaftliches Projekt aufbauen möchten und ich all mein Wissen einsetzen kann.

<div><em>Es gibt aber noch Hürden zu nehmen: </em>Für mich als Migrant in Deutschland sind die Lebens- und Arbeitbedingungen schlecht. Ich möchte nicht auf staatliche Hilfe angewiesen sein, ohne Sicherheit und langfristige Perspektive, sondern mir ein Leben nach meinen Vorstellungen aufbauen.

<div><em>Was wir vorhaben: </em>Das Gelände von SoliLe e.V. verfügt über 5,5 Hektar Ackerfläche. Wir möchten einen großen Folientunnel als Gewächshaus aufstellen, um die Saison zu verlängern und in einem ersten Schritt auf etwa 5000 qm Land Biogemüse anbauen, das wir in Brandenburg und Berlin (als wöchentliche Gemüsekisten) verkaufen möchten. Zudem möchten wir 70–100 Hühner halten, deren Eier wir verkaufen werden, um eine zusätzliche Einkommensquelle zu schaffen und das Projekt auf eine diversere Basis zu stellen. Außerdem können wir so einen Beitrag zur regionalen Lebensmittelversorgung leisten und Teil des wachsenden Netzwerks von Kleinbauern und solidarischen Landwirtschaften in Brandenburg sein.

<div>I grew up in western Kenya in a large family without financial stability. I had a passion for farming from an early age and dreamed of having my own farm one day.

<div>I first studied livestock farming at university. But I was more interested in the practical side. That's why I traveled to South Africa in 2016 and learned a lot about poultry farming there until 2017. Back in Kenya, I ventured into small-scale farming and teamed up with others. This gave me a good understanding of agriculture.

<div><em>A happy coincidence: </em>during this time, I came across the collective rural project SoliLe e.V. (Verein solidarisch Leben), which had bought land in 2023 and was looking for new partners – exactly the experience and expertise that I brought with me.

<div>Step by step, I grew into the collective and got to know other small farms and community-supported agriculture (SoLaWi) in the area. Thanks to this network and mutual support, such as borrowing equipment or sharing experiences, we are now at the point where we want to set up our own agricultural project on our land and I can use all my knowledge.

<div><em>But there are still hurdles to overcome: </em>For me as a migrant in Germany, the living and working conditions are poor. I don't want to be dependent on state aid, without security and long-term prospects, but to build a life according to my own ideas.

<div><em>What we intend to do: </em>The SoliLe e.V. site has 5.5 hectares of farmland. We would like to set up a large foil tunnel as a greenhouse to extend the season and, as a first step, grow organic vegetables on around 5000 square meters of land, which we would like to sell in Brandenburg and Berlin (as weekly vegetable boxes). We would also like to keep 70-100 chickens, whose eggs we will sell to create an additional source of income and give the project a more diverse basis. This way we can also contribute to the regional food supply and be part of the growing network of small farmers and solidarity farms in Brandenburg.
