The Parker Family Legal Fund

Jesse Parker was a special soul and our world has been dimmer since his untimely passing. He was a gifted artist, talented chef, and a loyal friend. His unique brand of humor and intelligence were present in everything he did. He knew the truth about what was important and was never afraid to speak his mind. He was an avid pun user, dog lover, believer in all things Cleveland and enthusiast of the finer things in life. He was also, importantly, the victim of a crime. 

He was observing proper traffic laws when a driver struck and killed him while riding his bicycle on August 8, 2017. In the months since the accident, the legal process has been slow and painful and the chance for real justice appears to be slipping away. Despite obvious fault, the driver’s charges have been downgraded to a misdemeanor. Considering the results of the driver's actions, the minor level of these charges feels wholly inadequate. We feel the justice system has let Jesse down.

We are collecting funds to help the Parker family in their pursuit of civil action against the driver. While we know that no amount of money can bring back what we lost, justice deserves a fighting chance.

His family has been coping with this loss with bravery and strength for months now and the fight is not over. Even in their grief, they are motivated and ready to keep fighting. And they need our help.
