Friends, family and community, I’m reaching out today for your prayers and support. My dear friend and choir member Jesse Hunter’s health has been deteriorating rapidly. Jesse is a wonderful person who is blessed with a beautiful voice. His love for God and music is truly an inspiration to me. Jesse has had to stop singing due to his illness. Although he cannot sing anymore, he still joins us when he can, sitting with the choir, which gives him comfort. I’m asking today for your help in supporting Jesse and his family through this difficult time.
Three years ago Jesse was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Three months later, COPD. Combined this is called Interstitial Lung Disease. Jesse has been hospitalized 3 times in the past 2 months. He has been on multiple doses of steroids to keep the disease from progressing. Doctors from Cedars Sinai, Long Beach VA, and Presbyterian suggested that a lung transplant “might work”, but chances of him surviving are slim.
The Lung Institute in Scottsdale, AZ has had much success in reducing the progression by using Stem Cell Therapy. Jesse’s last resort is to try this method. Doctors agree that he would not survive a plane flight, so his family will be driving him there. They will be leaving on August 28. He needs help paying for the treatment, hotel and equipment and van rental costs. His out-of-pocket expenses will run around $12,000.
