Jesse Ramirez's Funeral funds

I'm not even sure how to write this out. It's all so shocking and so sudden. We as a family knew it was only a matter of time but we definitely didn't expect it to happen so soon.

Jesse, my father, has been in and out of the hospital for the past three years. This year he has mostly just been in the hospital. He lost half his leg, has been on dialysis every three days, has caught pneumonia numerous times, had a defibrillator installed, and was neglected at a  medical rehab center. So much has happened but he kept his chin up and stayed strong. As of Thanksgiving this year he beat pneumonia for the umpteenth time and we were excited to hear he could head home later this upcoming week.  Tragically, Tuesday the 29th, he suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away at the Howard County General hospital. The doctors and nurses did everything they could, and we can't thank the staff enough for what they did for him.

Words can't even explain how hard this has been for all of us. This week has been filled with many tears, confusion, stress, anxiety.....just so much. It's so hard to remember that he's finally at peace, and no longer in pain. There is always gonna be the what ifs and the self doubt and guilt for not spending more time with him. But in the end we should be happy that he is no longer suffering, and won't have to live on with so many struggles.

So on December 1st after lots of phone calls and messages, we finally made it to a funeral home and set up a viewing and cremation. Unfortunately when it came down to paying for everything we were met with a huge bill, and realized we had to find his life insurance information to pay for all the arrangements. Dad was so very stubborn, he didn't feel the need to give anyone his life insurance info. He probably didn't think he would have to give that information to us so soon. As we searched for all the paperwork we finally found the info we needed and called up the insurance. His policy was terminated due to inactivity as of last summer. The peak of his sickness. We don't blame him for any of this. There is no way he could have known all of this was gonna happen.

So we have had to cancel our arrangements and scrounge up the money to pay for him to be cremated. Which is still so much money, money that all of us as a family doesn't have. This go fund me has been started so we can pay for his cremation, to send part of his remains to Texas to his family, and have a viewing later this month or in January. We would like to have some kind of gathering to remember him with family and friends. Even if we don't reach our goal, any amount of money helps us during these hard times.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you to everyone and anyone who is willing to help.

Love,
