Jesse Eagle Project for Peace Farm

Hello!
My name is Jesse Van Norman, I am 15 and a Life Scout in Boy Scouts Troop 1210. I will be building a greenhouse for the Peace Farm as my eagle project.The Saddleback Church Peace Farm is run by 250 volunteers in order to grow fresh produce for people in need. The greenhouse will allow the farm to increase production of food, which is vital to families that need it.

What is the Peace Farm?
The Peace Farm Started as a plot of unused farmland, and it was converted into a small farm dedicated to providing food pantries with fresh food. By growing their own produce, the Peace Farm can donate fresh, nutritious, and healthy food to the food pantries before it spoils; because all people deserve high-quality food. The Peace Farm is made of 40 planters to grow food, some of which were made by other eagle scouts in my troop, so now this is my contribution to the farm. I have been part of the Peace Farm since the start of it, and now I am very excited to do my part.

Why a Greenhouse?
The farm plants plugs into the 40 planters rather than directly planting the seeds. Plugs are sprouts from seeds that have started to grow. These plugs are usually small and weak when they are bought, so the farm is going to grow the plugs themselves in the greenhouse. This will decrease the price of plugs by allowing the farm to grow them from seed, and to start them early by having the greenhouse.

I Need Help!
The greenhouse kit alone cost $4,327. That’s not including tools, machinery, and other materials needed to complete the project. The estimated total is $5,000 that I need to raise.
