Jesse De Hoyos Loss of Home

Dear friends,

On Monday 8/27/18, our brother Jesse De Hoyos lost his mobile home to a fire started by some neighborhood kids.  He owned that mobile home, and everything in it was all that he had.  He did not have insurance, and although the Police are investigating he is unlikely to get anything out of it.  He has no savings and no job because he is disabled.  We finally won the Social Security fight after four years of fighting and he received his first check this month.  It is a very minimal amount and we are working with several organizations to get him low income housing and other help, but this may take several months.

Red Cross has provided a hotel for him for the next week, but then we have to be able to move him into his own place.  Right now, he has nothing.  He has no bed, no dresser, no clothes, no cooking utensils, nothing.  Even rent and food will be a struggle considering the small social security check and $15 a month in food stamps that he receives.  If you can help with even a few dollars, we will be able to get him the things that he needs to start a new life.

Love,

Letha, Sherry and Carla
