Putting forth this request has been humbling and asking for help is hard. Asking anyone for help is hard. Asking your friends and family for help feels even more difficult. Asking for money is just touchy and uncomfortable and we don't want you to feel any pressure from us. We are stepping out in faith because we realize some of you may have a similar heart to ours. We are asking for your support in ANY way you are able – financially, prayers for grace, guidance, love, and support along the way!
We are hosting a young girl (she is 7) from China in our home for 2 weeks (she is coming in just 12 days!) in the hopes of advocating for her adoption while she is here! She has lived in an orphanage her whole little life, so this will be a very new experience for her! We will fiercely advocate for her every chance we get as every child deserves to know the love and safety of a family. While we journey with open hearts and minds and provide her with love, care, and fun for a few weeks, our biggest hope is that she finds a forever family to call her own! Providing a home, love, and the basics is simple! It gets more complicated when financial aspects come into play. Even in our hosting her, there are expenses. Adoption expenses are even more significant! We are responsible for her travel expenses, which add up quickly! She will fly from China to Washington DC. We will fly to Washington DC to meet her and bring her home. Same process when it’s time to say good-bye (which we know will be very difficult.) Again, we hope that when we say good-bye, it will be knowing that she will have a family here working on bringing her home!
Your willingness to give and show your support is greatly appreciated and will no doubt make a difference to this little girl. Thank you in advance for your tremendous generosity! Any donations above and beyond her initial travel expenses will be donated to her adoptive family to cover the expenses of her adoption or to the advocacy/adoption agency in the event we do not have a family step forward. I think it would be amazing to come together to have a good portion of her adoption funded through donations, thus the $20.000 goal! A complete adoption from beginning to end is typically $35 -$40, 000. Let's be an advocate for her!!
