JERRY CAMP DESERVES DIGNITY

Donation protected
After a life of service to others for 40 years, the insidious disease of dementia has stolen his TRUE identity.  Jerry was a chaplain for the Lee County Sheriff's Department for 20 years, serving both inmates and staff.  He pastored a church for physically and mentally challenged adults for 10 years and was always involved in programs to help break the chains of drug addiction.  He loved all that he did, but in 2010 he had to retire after being diagnosed with dementia.  This past January he was admitted to the hospital and ended up having 3 procedures with sedation, which is difficult for a dementia patient. As his wife, I have done all that I could to care for him at home while working part time. It is no longer safe for Jerry to remain at home. Jerry has been moved to 5 facilities in the last 5 months, each move being necessary because of the quality and level of care he needed.

I just want him to be taken care of with Dignity. The cost of the facility Jerry needs is more than his income and creates a shortfall of about $10,000 a year.  Jerry is a peacetime Navy Veteran so he is not eligible for the wartime benefits. (Another disservice to our Vets!)  I will continue to work but cannot work full time because of Social Security Regulations.  The care that is available for Jerry is just more costly than I can maintain.  I have seriously considered bringing him home but I have been advised that it is not in his best interest.  I am reaching out to those have worked with Jerry or have been ministered to by him, or anyone that knows the challenges of caring for a loved one.  Jerry has spent his life serving others and though it is difficult for me to ask, I need help to provide the quality of care and DIGNITY HE DESERVES.

All donations will be used for assisted living and medical bills.  Anything you can give will make a difference in his quality of care and be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michelle Camp
