Jerfred Carroll's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Jerfred Carroll was diagnosed with diabetes 26 years ago at the age of 12.  Being diagnosed with diabetes forced Jerfred to make many changes to his lifestyle. In 2015 he was informed that his kidneys were failing and would need a kidney transplant.  The process to be placed on the transplant list is very lengthy. It requires numerous doctor visits and tests. In December of 2016 he began using a dialysis machine every night at home.  This treatment makes it difficult for him and his family to vacation anywhere overnight or even enjoy the normal nights that we take for granted due to the amount of time he must be on the dialysis machine.  In order for Fred to start dialysis he had a surgery to insert a catheter for peritoneal dialysis.  He also has undergone surgery for a hernia repair that was caused from extra fluid building up in his stomach area.  In November of 2017 he was presented with devastating news. A spot was located on one of his kidneys and it could possibly be cancer.  He is presently scheduled to have the kidney removed in January 2018.  This surgery is not only going to keep him from being able to work, but it is also going to be a large medical expense.  He has spent a great deal of money traveling to and from hospitals and clinics in Victoria and Houston. Many of his visits require overnight stays.  He has insurance, but as we all know, insurance is getting worse and there is still a large out of pocket expense that he has to pay.  Along with those expenses he also has travel expenses, medical equipment, and time off for his wife, Darlene.

Jerfred is employed at the Yoakum Community Hospital and works full time, even despite the illness.  He is a very responsible and reliable employee.  Although he is very sick and struggles every day to move forward, he has a positive attitude and doesn’t let his illness get him down.  We all have hardships in life that are beyond our control, but worrying about finances when you have major health issues isn’t a  worry any  person should have.  This is why I am starting a Go Fund Me account for him. I hope that not only people that know him, but people that know me would chip in and help, as he is a very dear friend.

Jerfred has a wife, Darlene and a son, Kyle.

Jerfred is on the list for a kidney transplant.  He will have to wait until there is a match for him.  This will also require time loss from work and huge medical bills.  Below is a link and number for anyone interested in seeing if they are a match to donate him a kidney.
