Hello I’m Jeremy Salazar,
a skateboarder, fashion designer, artist and creator currently living in my van in Los Angeles for the last 2 years coming from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After my last trip to skateboard and film in Tokyo (June 2025 Tokyo) I got a few different opportunities proposed to me.
While in Japan I got invited by a skateboarding organization in Kathmandu, Nepal Skaters Nepal to come skateboard and film with their community and teach skateboarding through the organization Skate Aid Nepal in Butwal up to 3 months with accommodations provided. I would just need to get there. (My teaching application is in process currently)
While on the way to Nepal I plan to travel through China and learn about their skateboarding scene and film skateboarding vlogs and maybe skate edits with locals. I have a few friends in China who have invited me out and I have noticed their skateboarding scene is mostly unknown in the west where the mainstream skate industry exists. This is mostly because we can’t access their main social media sites and they can’t access our main ones (Instagram, YouTube, google, TikTok). So this leads to a misunderstanding of their skateboarding culture. With the few friends I have in China I will most likely start in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and possibly Chengdu. If I feel confident during my trip I will ride the train to surrounding areas of these cities. This will be a good introduction to China as it is a place I’d like to continue going for years to come because the skate scene out there is huge and vibrant.
When I was in Tokyo I got asked to host a pop up or show to sell my clothing. These events are very popular in Tokyos Shimokitozawa neighborhood that is known for its vintage, thrifting and live music scene. Although this would take more time to organize, I would like to make a short stop here on my way to China and Nepal or after to look into this and connect more with the fashion and skateboarding scene in Tokyo.
If you are interested in donating to this journey and ongoing project these funds would help cover my tourist visa I need for China and Nepal, backpacking gear incase I have to sleep outdoors in between travel (as this could be a 3-4 month trip) hostels, trains, food and my returning flight when the time comes. My room and food accommodations in Nepal will be taken care of. I plan to start this trip by October 2025.
Each location of this trip will be filmed skateboarding vlog style, skate edits and some personal vlog experiences on my YouTube and other social medias all edited and shared as I’m going.
Thank you!
-Jeremy Salazar
