We are raising money for our friend and loved one, Jeremy Best, to help him and his family with medical costs associated with his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Jeremy is an inspiration to us all. Using his years of experience he always normalizes the struggles of fellow educators and does so with empathy. Jeremy is a bridge for the differences in people; he can bring anyone together. He is open to all students and their ways of learning and understanding. His students love him and his class for his unique methods and charismatic ways; they truly enjoy learning in his classroom. Jeremy is selfless and will do anything it takes to help a student succeed in his class.
As a friend, Jeremy is full of life. He constantly looks for fun in any situation. He is always joking, upbeat, and energetic. He is the center of the group –a catalyst. He is encouraging and can get you to try almost anything once. He is extremely creative and his mind is always working. I call him the “fancy word guy” because he is articulate and able to paint a picture with his words with little effort. He is emotionally strong and rarely seems affected by outside events. He is reliable and will do what he says, and will not commit to something if his heart is not in it. He enjoys the element of surprise when it comes to emotion. He will explode in a moment of joy and deliver a speech that will touch countless people when the situation calls for it. He lights up a room with his energy and makes those around him happy simply by being there. He can make you smile when you want to scream and make you tear up when you expect him to crack a joke.
