9/20/17: I have changed the fundraiser amount to 50k. Given that repairs on the home just to make it safe from mold and legally habitable are now topping $100,000...I am hoping when it's all said and done, this fundraiser can cover half of that. Go big or go home, right? In this case...go big so they can GO HOME!

Hi, and thanks for stopping by this fundraising page. I am trying to help my friends, Jeremy & Joy Rohrs (who I claim as family, not just friends) because their new home that they just bought three months ago...is underwater due to Hurricane Harvey.
If you know them at all, you know that these people regularly put it all on the line to help the most in need among us, abandoned and abused animals. Even as they tried in vain to save their first home purchase from going underwater, they saw two different neighbors had left (3) dogs to drown in the flood- and they took them in. When the water was rising to life threatening levels, where were Jeremy and Joy? Saving the chickens so they wouldn't drown.
There are unfortunately countless people who will need help after this storm and I'm sure many of you will be asked to dig deep in response to the loss of property and resources. But I'm asking you to help these people. I have never known anyone who deserves a break more than these two. Jeremy's business flooded less than 18 months ago and he completely rebuilt it from the ground up. To now lose the home they've worked their whole lives to buy, and only lived in 13 weeks? It's devastating.
As with so many issues related to natural disasters, money is needed to rebuild. In this case, lots of money. Everything from electrical wiring to flooring to mold cleanup- we are looking at a HUGE need here.
They would never ask for help. But wouldn't it be so great if the help was there waiting, anyway?

It's my sincere hope that between the animal rescue community, the slime community, and the dipping community...we can all come together for these amazing people and say...don't worry. We got this.

I'm Ellie, and Jeremy and Joy are my dear friends. I met them when I was a customer at Pearls and Pigments, and was immediately taken with their kindness, loyalty, and generosity. They are my friends, but I claim them as family.
How will these funds be spent?
The disbursement of funds to the contractors/other needs will be at the sole discretion of Jeremy and Joy. You can only designate one person to make withdrawals from this fundraiser, and Jeremy is the designee. This money is meant to have no strings attached in terms of exactly how they use it to recover. Whether they use it to pay current mortgage payments or other expenses so their income can be used to pay for the home repairs, or whether this money itself is used for the repairs...I trust they'll make the most fiscally sound decision regarding how to handle it.
How do I plan to get the funds to the beneficiaries?
As explained above, I have made Jeremy the designated contact for withdrawals from this campaign. Therefore, withdrawals will go directly into their bank account.
