So, to understand, I take a lot of medication. 2 are my anti-rejection medications which cost about $2400 per month, but is usually $0 because it was being covered my drug coverage pals at WellCare (sarcasm included). I just fell in the GAP, and hit my donut hole. So, only $5k to get out of it and back to normal.
If I stop taking the medication, my kidney will die...my only one. I will be left with no kidneys, so I'll be on a strict diet - no fruit, no nuts, no salt and a bunch of other things. And this is the fun part...only 40oz of liquid a day. That's like a regular bottle of water and two baby drinks of 10oz. This includes eating ice cream, popcicles, ice...it's all liquid at room temperature. That includes the water I have to take my pills with in the morning and at night. I did this for 2 years.
So, I would have to go back on dialysis and sit in the chair for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week. Also, no more urinating. With no kidneys, you can't do that. Yay!
If I go back on dialysis, that costs about $3k (I'm sure it's more now, that was in 2010) every time I sit my ass in the chair. So roughly, $16k per week.
I have to call 4 places to see if they will cover me. Granted the meds for anti-rejection (that $2400 a month) is NOT name brand - generic.
If they don't approve me, I will not be able to get this medicine (and don't forget I'm on like 20 more) I will not be able to get my meds and my FUN adventure will start by losing my kidney.
