On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, veteran Jacksonville K9 Officer and department Dive Team member Jeremy Mason was injured during a heroic effort responding to the attempted apprehension of a repeat violent bank robbery suspect. Well documented through the media, Officer Mason was shot in the face while attempting to apprehend the suspect and still managed to assist in the final disposition of the violent felon.
Officer Mason, a highly respected member of the local police department, is now attempting to recover from injuries that may have killed many of us and will likely have significant multiple reconstruction surgeries to repair the damage. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30, in conjunction with members of his department, have established this fund to assist Officer Mason with medical expenses and any additional unforeseen expenses that arise from his extraordinary response protecting the Jacksonville community from this violent felon.
Please understand that this fund is currently being managed by fellow officer and close friend Chris Brown, on behalf of the FOP 5-30, who is acting as the beneficiary until the family can get through this initial emotional period and assume beneficiary status. Detective Brown will not benefit financially from this effort in anyway as all proceeds will be turned over to the Mason family. As soon as the family can assess their needs to the fullest potential and estimate the recovery costs, this account will be turned over to them and the funding estimate will be updated.
Should you decide to provide a donation directly to the FOP you may do so by sending a check or money order to:

Thank you in advance for your support of our wounded Officer and Lodge member. We are very proud of him and eager to get him back to his family and to protecting the City of Jacksonville as soon as possible.
