Jeremy's Journey

Donation protected
On Sunday March 4, Jeremy and Tara Cupples were on their way to Manitoba to visit some family when they got a phone call from the doctor telling them they needed to turn around immediately and go straight to the hospital. Jeremy had gone for a simple blood test earlier that morning and the results had come back; there were serious abnormalities in his blood. After meeting with the doctor, and having a large collection of tests run, Jeremy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It will take another week to find out if he will need a bone marrow transplant or not.
Jeremy has already started a round of aggressive chemotherapy which will keep him in the hospital for 4 weeks in an isolation ward as the chemo will completely wipe out his immune system. Doctors are optimistic that they caught this early, however, treatments will likely cause some long term side effects such as infertility. Because of this, Jeremy and Tara have decided to take measures through the fertility clinic to preserve fertility for the future, which is an added expense. After this round of treatment, the doctors will reassess if future treatments can be done on an outpatient basis so Jeremy can be at home.
The doctors have told Jeremy that they estimate he will be unable to work for roughly 1 year and as of right now, he is only able to collect EI sick benefits. Tara is continuing to go to university full time but has significantly reduced her part time work hours to be with Jeremy as much as possible and to avoid getting sick. They will need help with finances during this time to help cover their regular bills, rent, cost of medications when they go home, storage fees at the sperm bank and other unexpected expenses that an illness like this can cause. Any support is greatly appreciated, whether prayer, financial support, or words of encouragement.
Thank you from Jeremy, Tara and their families. ❤️
