Jeremiah’s Biking Adventures

Donation protected
This 'Go Fund Me'  is to raise funds to purchase an Adaptive Bike so our son can join us on bike riding adventures!

Meet our amazing little miracle, Jeremiah!!

Jeremiah is born.

Our son, Jeremiah was born on December 10, 2010 weighing only 2lbs, 10oz.  His low birth weight was the result of him having suffered a stroke in the utero.    Shortly after Jeremiah's birth we were told our son would be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life. After 10 long weeks in the hospital,  we finally brought our sweet baby boy home.

Jeremiah's first years of life.
For the first two years of Jeremiah’s life we spent countless days in the hospital hoping each day would get better,  but appoximately one month after his first birthday Jeremiah developed Infantile Spasms (seizures).  As part of the recommended treatment plan we tried a trial medication, which eventually led him back in the hospital.  Jeremiah had become lethargic and aspirated into the lungs which made it difficult for him to breathe and eventually his lungs collapsed leading to a 4 week stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).  Seeing our baby hooked up to machines and breathing tubes is something that will stay with us forever.

Let me tell you why Jeremiah is our miracle baby.
One morning during his hospital stay the doctor informed us that Jeremiah had made no progress in breathing on his own and that there was nothing else they could do, they were very sorry, but the treatment was not working.  You can only imagine how my husband and I felt......our entire world had gone black.  We went for a walk and talked about what life would be like without our little angel.  We had been blessed to meet him after a difficult start and now he was being taken away from us.

The next 24 hours.
The doctors decided that we would wait another 24 hours before discussing next steps.  My husband and I prayed that our baby would come back to us and that he would never endure such pain again.

And the miracle!
The following morning when we arrived at the hospital we were given the great news that Jeremiah had made some progress and they would begin to decrease levels on the oscillator vent machine.  Jeremiah continued to make progress and still does to this day.  Ever since that morning, Jeremiah has inspired us to believe in miracles and that we should fight for and cherish life.  Every day we give thanks for the small things in our life.

Jeremiah is now 7 years old now and has not been admitted to the hospital since.

Jeremiah's  current condition.
Jeremiah is in first grade and making great strides, but he has permanent right brain damage which impairs his speech and left side body function.  Jeremiah cannot walk and is completely dependent of us to help with his health, nutritional and safety needs. He is G-Tube fed since he poses the risk of aspiration to the lungs.

We are truly blessed to have a community of helpers that work with him and push him to the next level.   Jeremiah recently took his first steps to riding a bike!!

Watching this video sent by Jeremiah's nurse brought tears to my eyes.  He's riding a bike for the first time! Remember when he was born we were told that he would not make it this far...  a true MIRACLE!

Jeremiah is beating the odds, he has learned how to sit, clap, give high-fives and ride a bike. What more can we say, he is a miracle!

How you can help.
Our family would like to see Jeremiah’s adventures continue and ask that you please donate to help raise money to purchase an adaptive bike like the one in the video above so we can go bike riding together as a family. This may seem like such a small thing to some,  but in our world this is a BIG milestone.

Thank you to all that have read Jeremiah’s story and I hope that it can inspire you.
