Jen's Cancer Fight and Recovery

Donation protected
I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in May of 2016. I underwent surgery, endured DVT's and a PE, had 5 months of dose dense chemotherapy, had fluid removed from my abdomen and then the fun began.
At the end of chemo, I began to experience some side effects. By February of this year I couldn't feel my feet, the fatigue had intensified, my memory was failing, I couldn't concentrate and life was getting harder. I was gathering diagnoses like trading cards I couldn't give away.
The chemotherapy left me with the 'jackpot' of side effects and I need durable medical equipment for my daily needs, therapies to address my communication, vision, cognitive,  physical and motor actions, and medications to reduce the pain. I'm unable to work or drive and miss my job as a director of a school,  working with children with disabilities and their families. As a lifelong caretaker of these families, I'm now in the vulnerable position of being disabled myself.
My neurologist and oncologist have prescribed therapies that have limited insurance coverage. The money raised through this site will fund audiological therapy to combat the ototoxicity, that limits my balance and made my hearing sensitive. The rehab therapy program at JFK Neurosciences Institute consists of 2 full days of services each week. The services address my memory, works on my communication issues, will retrain me to read text on a page, address my vision issues and teach me strategies to function in small groups of people. The physical therapist is working to build my strength and balance and transition me from the walker to lofstrand crutches and ankle braces. They have referred me to a neuro-opthamologist and my insurance will not cover the costs of the evaluation, vision therapy or possible upgrades to my glasses.
The cost of the cancer, medications, treatments and physicians and specialists has tapped out our reserves and the journey isn't over. Insurance coverage for my OT, PT, Speech and NeuroCog therapies will be running out and the out of pocket costs are close to $200/hour for each therapy. I will require weekly therapy for the PTSD acquired through the process. And medications to address the damage from the cancer and chemo will be ongoing.
I appreciate your desire to help me with my costs to recover from this stupid disease and the side effects of the poisons that saved my life. I have been blessed to be given this shot at survival and wish to work again. I thank you in advance for your assistance and support in meeting my goal.
