Hello Everyone! I am Jennifer Dunger from Sterling Heights, MI. I am aiming to participate in the Miss Michigan USA 2018 Pageant. This year, the pageant is going to be held on September 29-30 2017 in Port Huron, MI. In order to participate, I need all the help I can get! The competition is quite expensive and although I have saved some money, my savings alone cannot cover the costs. Your donation will help me with the entry fees, an evening gown, interview suit, swim suit, hair, makeup, and hotel.
My platform this year is the National Scoliosis Foundation. Scoliosis is the curvature of the spine and is considered very common among Americans, but more common and severe in women. Scoliosis impacts the quality of life, putting pressure on the heart, diminishing lung capacity, and limiting physical activity. Thankfully, through early detection and treatment advances, the worst effects of scoliosis may be prevented. Also, it may lead to decreased self-esteem and confidence in young men and women. Six months ago, I had received my second spinal fusion to treat my scoliosis. After my second fusion, I felt so confident and beautiful in my body.
With my new confidence, my goal is to teach young women that no matter what ailment or deformity you have, you can feel beautiful and confident in your own skin. You should not let anything hold you back from achieving your personal goals and that you can change today's standard of "beautiful". This pageant is an opportunity for me to be involved in my community and spotlight positive female role-models. I feel this program will help me raise awareness towards scoliosis and help educate the community on the importance of early detection and treatment.I am truly grateful for even $1 and the support that comes along with it! With your donation, I will fight to make my dream come true and continue to raise awareness for the National Scoliosis Foundation.
