Poorest working children

Donation protected
The money you give will help to start the VIG project in the Juconi organisation in Ecuador.  At the moment, children take on the role of looking after the family, bringing in money, looking after younger children or a parent who is the victim of violence.  Juconi seeks to change this dynamic so that parents can start to take care of their children.

This is Emilio - he is 6 years old.

Any donation - however small will really help. Juconi workers use "better than usual" filmed interactions to identify family strengths.  In this way families begin to take the perspective of their children and eventually start to change and parent their own children.  Juconi has already had huge success, but with the implementation of VIG, it is hoped to speed up the process of empowering parents.  They are beginning the project with 22 families.

The funds are limited.  Sometimes the parents and children haven't eaten for days, so food baskets and nutritious snacks are important before the parents can be available for conversations about change.

The project workers need to travel to the families, and help parents play with children.  There are no toys in the families.

If we raise more money than this, we will donate towards the school costs.  The government are now able to provide more buildings for schools, and encourage all children to attend.  Many more street children attend school now - but it is hard for families with many children to find the money!
per child it costs:
£11 for a pair of shoes/child
£65 for school uniform/child
£35 for school equipment/child
