Jenny needs knee surgery

This is Jenny, our 6-year-old Plott hound. She had a rough start to life, as do most rescue dogs. We found her in a shelter at just 6 months old, recovering from a serious eye injury and needing another surgery to fix her other eye. After enduring two eye surgeries before her first birthday, we adopted Jenny and she learned that there was more to life than cages and pain. She shadowed her big brother, a coonhound named Jack, and learned everything about being a good hound dog. She blossomed into a happy, loving dog who's greatest joy is being out with us on adventures running with all her heart.
Unfortunatley, all those years of joyful running have taken a toll on Jenny's knees. Two years ago she was diagnosed with bilateral ACL tears. Without surgery to repair the injured joints, the outlook is bleak. Her days of running or even walking without pain are in jeopardy. Eighteen months ago, we were able to have Jenny's left knee surgically repaired. The TPLO surgery was successful and we had hoped that with one good knee Jenny would get a respite from the pain and be able to get back to her active life, at least for a while.
During a recent walk through the forest, Jenny began limping terribly on her right leg. She has gone as far as she can go on one good knee and is unable to bear any weight on her right leg. We know the time has come to get the other knee fixed to relieve her pain and get her back to running and walking again. We also know how costly this surgery is and that we don't have the funds available to pay for it.
It breaks our hearts to see our beloved dog in pain and unable to do the simple things that give her so much happiness. It is also heartbreaking and stressful to know that easing her pain will create a significant financial burden for us. So we have decided to start this fund to help pay for the cost of the surgery. The procedure will be approximately $3,800, plus the cost of follow-up x-rays a few weeks after. We have arranged financing to be able to have the surgery without delay. Any funds raised will go to pay off that bill. Jenny is scheduled for the operation on August 29, 2018.
