<div>Yesterday, August 15th, 2025, my mom Jennifer woke up crying with excruciating neck pain and a terrible headache. Will (her husband) took her to urgent care, and urgent care suggested she go to the emergency room.

<div>Around noon, Tennova Hospital started to think she had meningitis, but after many tests, a few rounds of antibiotics, and a lumbar spinal tap that revealed she had blood in her spinal fluid, and her brain was severely swollen. Jennifer also started to become “out of it,” not knowing where she was, why she was at the hospital, or what was even going on. Tennova knew something else was wrong and immediately scheduled an ambulance ride to St. Thomas Intensive Care Unit in Nashville, TN, where she would need to be admitted.

<div>On August 16th, 2025, at 12:36 am, she arrived at the ICU at St. Thomas, where they were able to keep her stable and run more tests. At 4 am, an MRI was conducted, and the worst news was now mentioned. A brain aneurysm was found, and it was bleeding. The doctor stated surgery was the next game plan, and it definitely wasn’t going to be an easy one.

<div>At 7:47 am, my mom was now being taken back for emergency surgery. After two short hours, the surgery was completed, and they placed her back in the ICU, where she will need to be sedated until they can evaluate her brain activity and keep her as still as possible.

<div>At 11:17 am, I went back to her room where she was just laying, so still, looking so different from when I saw her two days ago... Jennifer was hooked up to tubes, wires, and IVs filled with medicine.
</div>

<div>Jennifer will be in critical care in the intensive care unit for at least a week. This time doesn’t include any of the long-term obstacles that are just yet to come for her.
</div>

<div>As of August 17th, Doctors tried to wake her up and remove the breathing tube. But unfortunately Jennifer was unable to breathe on her own. While doing so, a chest x-ray revealed that there was fluid on her lungs and doctors immediately started antibiotics.
</div>
<div>During all this time, her results from other imaging showed she had another aneurysm in her brain, and she would NEED to have surgery immediately. 
</div>

<div>   Doctors at St.Thomas  mentioned that they are unaware of how things will be when she wakes up. There was a ton of swelling in her brain and it caused quite a bit of damage. 
</div>
<div>we have a goal of getting Jennifer to wake up, and get that tube removed! 
</div>

<div>For a follow up plan, Jennifer is still medically sedated until her body is strong enough to wake up, and breathe on her own. A feeding tube has also been started to help her get strong for when she is able to wake up.
</div>

<div>  If you’ve ever met her, worked with her, or even had a random conversation with my mom, you know how much of an amazing person she is and how hard of a worker she has always been. Jennifer can make anyone smile or laugh at the silliest jokes. The life of a party, you could call it. She didn’t deserve this.
</div>

<div>The reason I am starting this GoFundMe is because <strong>not knowing the outcome of how things will be, how long until she can report back to work, or even how long her husband Will can take off to be there for her.</strong> This money will help take some financial stress off of them, so Jennifer can recover and not have to worry about the financial obstacles they will face.
</div>
<div>this money will also go towards physical therapy, medications and any medical devices she may need due to her brain swelling and causing any nerve damage.
</div>
