Jennifer Severance's Burn Care Fund

On Saturday, November 25, 2017 my sister Jen experienced a horrific kitchen accident that resulted in 3rd degree burns to 20% of her body (legs, stomach, chest, and arms). Since that time she has been at the Arizona Burn Center receiving much needed treatment. She has undergone two surgeries, each lasting several hours, to clean and debride the burns. On Tuesday, December 12, 2017 she underwent her third surgery, during which they took skin from her back, buttocks, and right leg to provide grafts for the burned areas. This surgery took six hours. I have never seen anyone experience such pain as I have witnessed during her hospital course. Her journey is far from over. Her physicians say full recovery will take up to 18 months and will involve weekly visits to the Burn Center, as well as physicial and occupational therapy, counseling, and wound care.  She will need full-time assistance when she returns home. She is expected to miss another 2-3 months of work.  Hospitalization for burn care costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, much of which will not be covered by insurance. We do not yet know the final cost that Jen will face on the other side of this life-changing experience. The last thing she should be worried about now is her finances. Our family hopes that all who know Jen will help make things a little easier for her. She has touched so many lives with her kindness and sweet smile.  Let's lift her up when she needs it most!
