Hello, my name is Jenna Neate and I am a sprint kayaker from Burloak Canoe Club, located in Oakville, Ontario.
Growing up, I was always the kid picked last for sports teams. In grade 8 gym class, running 400 meters -and coming last- had me panting so hard it led people to believe I had asthma. That year I realized I needed to make a change; I wanted to be able to run that 400m and I wanted to do it fast.
Four years later, I'm not running but I am going fast.
I discovered the sport of Sprint Kayaking and fell in love with the adrenaline, the hurt, and the accomplishment.
This past week at the Sprint Canoe Kayak National Championships I become a national champion, winning a gold medal in the women's U17 6000m race and a bronze in the 500m. These results have qualified me to represent Canada at the Olympic Hopes Regatta in the Czech Republic, September 10-18th.
I am incredibly honoured and excited to have the opportunity to wear my country's name on my back as part of Team Canada at my first international competition. However, the training, uniforms, travel, and accommodation for this trip will be expensive. With spending all my time on the water, and this competition approaching so quickly, I need some help to raise the $3500 this trip will cost.

Your support will not only enable me to compete at the Olympic Hopes Regatta but would help fuel dreams I've had since I started this sport. Dreams to follow other Canadian athletes like Adam Van Koeverden, who have made it to world championships and won Olympic medals.
