Jen Galloway WWT2 - Regional Impact Scholarships

Tax deductible

Giving is a gift for not only those that receive but also those that give.  Make a difference to someone’s life today!

I’m Jennifer Galloway and in 2020 I’ll be overcoming nerves to “sing” in Thomas Bros Wagga Wagga Takes 2 under the guidance of my talented mentor, Charles Patterson.  Over the last 13 years this incredible event has raised over $3 million for local causes and organisations, having a lasting impact on our local community.

I’m proud to be participating this year on behalf of the Charles Sturt University Regional Impact Fund. Through scholarships this fund enables equal access to higher education for regional students who might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to go to uni because of their financial circumstances.

A bit about me!

I’m a former city girl who swapped her stilettos for gumboots, moved to the country for love and I’ve never looked back.  Apart from the wide open spaces and availability of Beyonce-style portable wind machines whenever you take photos ;) what I love about Wagga is the community.  It’s a community that supports, encourages and celebrates each other, and one where there’s always time for a chat – that’s just the way we do things here. As a mum of three I’m passionate about the enabling abilities of education and believe in access for all, especially in rural and regional Australia.

In my day job I am blessed to work in philanthropy for Charles Sturt University and get to see firsthand the impact of helping rural and regional students achieve their dream of getting a university degree. University qualifications open doors for people and also help our regions to fill skills shortages and develop new businesses.

Why are uni scholarships needed?

Today,  rural and regional students are facing considerable financial disadvantages, with one in five  students regularly going without food and everyday necessities and many working one or more jobs for up to 30 hours a week on top of their required 30 plus hours of study – just to survive.

Since the Charles Sturt University Foundation was established in 1982 it has awarded more than $15 million through 4,000 plus scholarships, raising participation rates for regional communities and first in family students.

Together, we can help alleviate these pressures and provide support so that our students have a better chance at succeeding in and completing their degrees.

How you can help.

There are so many ways you can make a difference. From individuals to community groups to local businesses – everyone can play a part in helping rural and regional students thrive by growing and retaining the skills and talent we so need in our regions.  Your contributions will ensure the Charles Sturt University Regional Impact Fund can make a real and lasting change.
