Jellen bust their lungs n bums: Royal Parks 21km

Hey there, thanks for clicking. Cast your mind back to 2015. That was a nice year, right? Nothing really happened, did it? Comparatively, that is.  Wrong. Joe and Ellen went on their first run together in Cambridge. Ellen thought it would be a good idea: fresh air, endorphins, mental stimulation. The reality? Five long minutes saw her heaving, moaning and, ultimately, frantically hunting down a toilet, which turned out to be opposite a room in a college where they'd had a lesson on Medieval Spanish poetry - centred on the theme of death, dying and the deceased - only two days prior. Fitting, right? Fast forward 5 years: Ellen loves running. But why? Ellen's dad - vegan (!), fit, a fighter - was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas. To say this ruptured her existence would be an understatement. But what does this have to do with Joe? Well, he's her counsellor, just like Macmillan.  Macmillan helps anyone who has been affected by cancer, directly and indirectly. Their support ranges from the scientific to the emotional: they understand the shockwaves one diagnosis has on the lives of many. We want to help Macmillan help us, and others, in all that they do. Thanks for reading and, we hope, for helping us on this lil mission. Warm wishes, Joe and Ellen. P.S: With GoFundMe, 100% will go to Macmillan, even if you choose to add Gift Aid. This is a big deal.

Update: August 1

Our half marathon has been changed to April 11th due to coronavirus.

We will be running the half marathon on the route on the date originally specified, as a way of honouring our commitment and training. We look forward to the real date, which will hopefully be a lot sunnier than a dreary October Morning!

Update: August 17

Ellen's dad has just had his operation which went smoothly. This is a huge relief to us, as we were getting more anxious by the day, with coronavirus wrecking havoc on waiting lists and scheduling. Thank you to everyone who has been supportive during this time.
