Jelene's Treatment Fund

Thanks for dropping by and for your consideration to partner with so many other wonderful people (like you, I'm sure) in supporting Jelene through her cancer recovery!

Here's a brief background story...

It all started early morning on September 30th. John text me that they were at the ER, because Jelene was feeling very ill.

I figured, if Jelene was in the ER, it must be a BIG deal, because she's 'tough as nails', so I could feel John's genuine concern right away.

Over the next week, Jelene went through many tests and surgery.  While at the hospital, she also underwent medical procedures to remove fluid from and around her lungs, which was the most painful medical procedure she'd ever experienced in her life, to.  And for someone who gave birth (to 2 of 3 kids) without drugs, calling it a pain level of "11" was really serious and scary!

After all that, Jelene was diagnosed with advanced indolent Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer.

It was a shock to everyone!

Besides being quite young, Jelene's easily one of the most health-concious people you can meet! Seriously, she's a smart cookie (a healthy one, though ;-) )!  But ultimately, after tons of research, prayer and advice, she and John decided their best route was a 6 Month treatment of chemotherapy & immunotherapy (at the Carbone Cancer Center in Madison).

For this particular cancer there is no known 'cure' at this time, but this treatment has a good success rate at reducing the cancer, and decent success rate to partial/possibly full remission.

Outside of the 2 monthly treatments for chemo & immunotherapy, Jelene will still need to have fluid removed from and around her lungs... fortunately, it's a different procedure that's not as taxing and painful.

At first, it was very tough for Jelene, fighting through nausea and pain, and feeling discouraged by how little energy she had, so she had to remain in bed all day (which is difficult for a mom, wife and someone who works so hard to take great care of her family).

But not long after, the treatment started showing positive signs, giving her the ability to get out bed, move around the house a bit... and even go out for short grocery trips and errands. That was pretty huge and very encouraging! :-)

As of now (Nov 29), even though there are positive signs with her treatment, the radical changes they've all been forced to make have been a tough uphill battle - physically, emotionally, and spiriturally.

And with medical procedures of this magnitude, the financial burden on them has been pretty overwhelming.  Thank God that insurance is helping to take care of a good portion of the costs, but with Jelene no longer working, John has had to put in overtime, not just with work, but with being caregiver, Mr. Mom, and the ongoing necessities of keeping up the home.

The funds that are raised here, are strictly going for the medical costs.  HOWEVER, if you prefer the are 3 other ways you can help support them.

1) Show them some love by leaving a message here, or reach out by phone, email, text - your encouraging words mean more to them than they can communicate.

2) We have a "Meal-Train" set up, so you can sign up to cook a meal for them. Or you can provide a gift card if time (or talent ;-) ) is a challenge for you.  Just sign up at this link - https://goo.gl/8DbDLS.

3) THE EASIEST: please be praying for them - for strength, peace and love to be all over the entire family!

Well, I think that's it for now.  We will be sharing more updates as time goes on.  We TRULY appreciate your time, your love and your for your continued support!

Don't forget to share this if you can!  Thanks so much!!
