Hello friends,
This year, like many of us, I will spend my 31st birthday (on April 17) in quarantine while the coronavirus pandemic has basically put a halt to humanity.
Queer people and organizations are hit especially hard by the lockdown. Many of us are freelancers or self-employed and our livelihood is at stake. Also, many organizations that have been there for the community for years or even decades, are at risk of not surviving the pandemic.
This is why I decided that I would like to raise money for them for my 31st birthday. The money we will raise together will go to equal parts to the following people and organizations:
1. Siegessäule
Siegessäule is Berlin's most widely distributed city magazine and has been published since April 1984, making it the journalistic flagship of Berlin's queer community. The free magazine is the only magazine of its scale in Europe to represent the full spectrum of the LGBTIQ community.

2. Akademie Waldschlösschen
The Akademie Waldschlösschen is an educational institution that exists since 1981 as a result of the 1970s German gay movement. Since then it has developed into a national centre for networking among and training of activist LGBTIQ workers. The Academy is of similar significance for AIDS work in Germany. Facing the many challenges of the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, the Waldschlösschen undertook a nationwide linking of the different AIDS support initiatives. This led to the founding of the national Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe, which has been a frequent collaborator ever since.

3. Clubcommission Berlin
The Clubcommission Berlin seeks to represent and defend club culture in Berlin, f.i. against gentrification. It is Berlin's diverse club culture's political arm and is committed to creating an inclusive clubbing experience for all people.

4. Cameryn Moore (Smut Slam)
Cameryn Moore is an award-winning playwright, performer, event producer, and host. She is currently supervising the global expansion of Smut Slam, a storytelling show featuring real-life, first-person sex stories. Smut Slam open mics are operating regularly in 17 cities around the world.

5. Honey LaBronx
Honey uses her exposure as a drag performer to spread the vegan message to new audiences. An LGBTIQ rights activist, she is committed to bringing discussions about animal rights, intersectionality, and social justice to new audiences. In 2011, she was one of 8 activists arrested for blocking New York City traffic while demonstrating for marriage equality alongside her drag mother, Bob The Drag Queen. She has performed around the world raising funds for local animal sanctuaries, rescues, and animal and queer activist organizations.

6. Christopher Sebastian
Christopher Sebastian lectures at Columbia University in the Department of Social Work for the graduate course POP: Power, Oppression, and Privilege. He primarily focuses on animal violence and how it influences anti-black racism, queer antagonism and class discrimination throughout the global west.

8. Several Berlin clubs, bars, & community centers (including SchwuZ, SO36, Silver Future, Quälgeist, ...)
Several Berlin clubs, bars, and community centres are also struggling and it's unsure whether they will all make it through the pandemic. Part of the donations will go to them as well, depending on which ones are in need. Among them are for example SchwuZ, founded in 1977 as the first alternative gay club of West Berlin, or SO36, probably the most famous queer hotspot of Kreuzberg and especially an important home to queer Muslims or refugees.
9. ORGYSMIC
And finally, my own project, ORGYSMIC, which is not only my blog about sex but under which I also offer my critically acclaimed guided tour "Berlin's History of Sex". ORGYSMIC seeks to educate about human sexualities, promote sexual health, and fight discrimination and stigma based on sexual preferences, identities, behaviours, etc.

Dieses Jahr werde ich, wie viele von uns, meinen 31. Geburtstag (am 17. April) in Quarantäne verbringen, während die Coronavirus-Pandemie die Menschheit im Grunde genommen zum Stillstand gebracht hat.
Queere Menschen und Organisationen sind vom Lockdown besonders hart betroffen. Viele von uns sind freiberuflich oder selbstständig tätig, und unser Lebensunterhalt steht auf dem Spiel. Außerdem sind viele Organisationen, die seit Jahren oder sogar Jahrzehnten für die Community da sind, in Gefahr, die Pandemie nicht zu überleben.
Deshalb habe ich beschlossen, dass ich zu meinem 31. Geburtstag Geld für sie sammeln möchte. Das Geld, das wir gemeinsam sammeln werden, geht zu gleichen Teilen an die folgenden Personen und Organisationen:
1. Siegessäule
Die Siegessäule ist Berlins meistverbreitetes Stadtmagazin und erscheint seit April 1984 und ist damit das journalistische Aushängeschild der Berliner Queer-Community. Das kostenlose Magazin ist das einzige Magazin seiner Größenordnung in Europa, das das gesamte Spektrum der LGBTIQ-Community repräsentiert.

2. Akademie Waldschlösschen
Die Akademie Waldschlösschen ist eine Bildungseinrichtung, die seit 1981 als Ergebnis der deutschen Schwulenbewegung der 1970er Jahre besteht. Seitdem hat sie sich zu einem nationalen Zentrum für die Vernetzung und Ausbildung von LGBTIQ-Aktivist_innen entwickelt. Die Akademie ist für die Aids-Arbeit in Deutschland von ähnlicher Bedeutung. Angesichts der vielfältigen Herausforderungen der Aids-Krise der 1980er Jahre hat das Waldschlösschen eine bundesweite Vernetzung der verschiedenen Initiativen zur Aids-Bekämpfung vorgenommen. Dies führte zur Gründung der bundesweiten Deutschen Aidshilfe, die seither mit dem Waldschlösschen zusammenarbeitet.

3. Clubkommission Berlin
Die Clubcommission Berlin will die Clubkultur in Berlin vertreten und verteidigen, u.a. gegen die Gentrifizierung. Sie ist der politische Arm der vielfältigen Berliner Clubkultur und setzt sich dafür ein, ein inklusives Clubbing-Erlebnis für alle Menschen zu schaffen.

4. Cameryn Moore (Smut Slam)
Cameryn Moore ist eine preisgekrönte Performerin, Veranstaltungsproduzentin und Moderatorin. Derzeit betreut sie die weltweite Expansion von Smut Slam, einer Storytelling-Show mit Sexgeschichten aus dem echten Leben realer Menschen. Die Open Mics von Smut Slam finden regelmäßig in 17 Städten auf der ganzen Welt statt.

Im Jahr 2011 war sie eine von acht Aktivist_innen, die wegen der Blockade des Verkehrs in New York City verhaftet wurden, während sie an der Seite ihrer Drag-Mutter, Bob The Drag Queen, für die Ehe für Alle demonstrierte. Sie trat weltweit auf und sammelte Gelder für lokale Tier-Lebenshöfe, Rettungsaktionen und Organisationen für Tier- und LGBTIQ-Rechte.

6. Christopher Sebastian
Christopher Sebastian lehrt an der Columbia University in der Abteilung für Sozialarbeit für den Graduiertenkurs POP: Power, Oppression and Privilege. Er konzentriert sich vor allem auf die Gewalt gegen Tiere und ihren Einfluss auf den anti-schwarzen Rassismus, den queeren Antagonismus und die Klassendiskriminierung im gesamten globalen Westen.

7. Mehrere Berliner Clubs, Bars und Communityzentren (u.a. SchwuZ, SO36, Silver Future, Quälgeist, ...)
Mehrere Berliner Clubs, Bars und Communityzentren haben ebenfalls Probleme, und es ist unsicher, ob sie alle die Pandemie überstehen werden. Ein Teil der Spenden wird auch an sie gehen, je nachdem, welche von ihnen in Not sind. Dazu gehören zum Beispiel das SchwuZ, 1977 als erster alternativer Schwulenclub Westberlins gegründet, oder das SO36, der wohl bekannteste queere Hotspot Kreuzbergs und vor allem eine wichtige Heimat für queere Muslime oder Queers mit Fluchterfahrung.
8. ORGYSMIC
Und schließlich mein eigenes Projekt, ORGYSMIC, das nicht nur mein Blog über Sex ist, sondern unter dem ich auch meine von Kritiker_innen gelobte Führung "Berlin's History of Sex" anbiete. ORGYSMIC will über Sexualität aufklären, sexuelle Gesundheit fördern und Diskriminierung und Stigmatisierung aufgrund von sexuellen Vorlieben, Identitäten, Verhaltensweisen usw. bekämpfen.
