Jeffrey Langolf Memorial Fund

Updated (Please read):
The Langolf family would firstly like to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support during the weeks and months following the tragic death of Jeff. There are not words to describe how much it means to us that so many people gave generously of their time and money to help honor sweet Jeffy.

The original intent of this fund was to provide a one time donation to the PHHS Band Program, a program which gave him such joy. The donations surpassed our wildest dreams!
We are pleased to say that we have received $12,000, all of which will be given with the specific intent to set up a scholarship with the BRMM to help students who otherwise wouldn't be able pay the band camp fee. The Langolf's feel that no student who wants to be part of the band program should be kept from participating because of money. The band program gives students a family, a home base, a purpose, and a work ethic, all of which helps them navigate their time in high school.

The $12,000 raised during the immediate aftermath of Jeff's death will be distributed to the band over the course of several years as it is needed.

Moving into the year 2020, the Langolf's are establishing the Jeffrey Langolf Memorial Fund, a donor controlled fund (similar to an Endowment) to keep his memory alive even longer. The community foundation in which we are setting up this fund requires a minimum of $25,000 to create such a fund. So we will be continuing to raise funds with the goal of 25k-50k so that we could set up a fund that donates annually in perpetuity.

The vision for this fund is to make annual donations to a variety of causes that were meaningful to Jeff. As many know, he suffered from Ulcerative Colitis, so the fund could potentially fund Ulcerative Colitis research. It could also fund suicide prevention, city recreation programs or other programs Jeff was a part of and believed in. We would like for the fund to live on forever and help as many people as possible to carry out Jeff's dream of helping as many people as he could.

Original post:
Jeffrey Langolf, our beloved son, brother and friend to so many, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

He is remembered by all who knew him as someone who chased his dreams and faced obstacles with a smile on his face. His whole life was based on helping others.

One of of his biggest passions in his young life was band. He was an active member of the marching band and band program at PHHS. His junior and senior year he was elected to be drum major, and went on to lead the Marching band to back to back Division 1’s at their band competition each year. He was known as a compassionate leader, who found time to help every freshman and person who was struggling and helped them along. He found great joy in performing and in music, as well as the relationships he formed with these activities.

To honor Jeffrey and all his hard work and dedication to the band program, a fund has been set up in his name. The funds raised will be donated back to the band program that gave him so much joy.
