I would never think that that there would be a day where I would be the one filling out a GoFundMe account but the grim reality is here. This morning I received an unexpected call. The call that we all fear, my older cousin Jeff is no longer with us.
Growing up I was surrounded by more cousins than your average family. It’s a bond that cannot be explained. Although the family was huge, I only had a few male cousins that I could look up to and that would actually want me to be around. Being the youngest was never easy. My cousin Jeff was one of them and by far the coolest cousin. He loved every sport imaginable, watched wrestling religiously, loved comic books, had every game system that was released (during this time, it was a big freaking deal), had the coolest friends around the neighborhood, and had a hat and sneaker collection that I could only dream of having one day. Growing up I started bending my hat bills like his hats, wearing jerseys like him, started sitting with my legs in a “w” like him, bought every game that he had, and pretended to enjoy sports as much as he did. I wanted to be just like him.
We grew older and Jeff stood exactly the same. Still buying Marvel action figures, still playing the same games we did for Nintendo, still watching sports that other people could care less about. The only thing that changed, he was now a father to an incredibly smart, beautiful, and amazing young girl, Quinn. Quinn gave Jeff a purpose. He had this new sense of life. He was such an amazing father to Quinn and would do anything to make sure she was happy and safe. Quinn became his world.
Jeff was known by all of his friends and family to have the biggest heart imaginable. He would take care of everyone else before considering himself. Jeff’s family was not prepared for this unexpected tragedy. I am starting this campaign to help his family pay for his funeral expenses and to make this memorial of his unforgettable for his family and most imporantly, Quinn.
Every little bit will help Jeff's family. It is truely much appreciated and can not be thanked enough.
We love you Jeff. Glory be to God and reset in peace. Until we meet again.
