Jeff Sorrell's Cancer Treatment

Jeff Sorrell, father to 6 adult children (I am one of them), married to Janice Sorrell, and grandfather to ten wonderful boys and girls, was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer this last Spring (2018). In June, we were told that it was Stage 3 with a large tumor wrapping around and cutting off flow through his esophagus.
Since then, he has had to leave work with the city of Collinsville, OK (they are holding his job). He has had several hospital stays, has had to travel for procedures and appointments (as far as Oklahoma City), had surgery to add a feeding tube through his stomach so he could receive nutrients and fluids, received radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks, and chemo 3 days a week for 5 weeks (via port in the hospital).
The chemo and radiation appear to have reduced the size of the tumor, so the plan is for him to soon have surgery to remove the tumor (hopefully by mid November). The tumor was too large and involved closely to other organs for surgery to be done sooner. The upcoming surgery will be very invasive, including a 2 week post op stay in the hospital (3 of those days in ICU). There will be several appointments and tests leading up to the surgery, to ensure it is the best option.
Jeff does have medical insurance, but out of pocket deductibles are very expensive (as we all know) and insurance renewed in the middle of everything. This resulted in the annual out of pocket expenses resetting as well.
Jeff has been unable to work for several months already and will not be able to return to work until after the New Year (2019); if all goes well with the surgery and we receive a diagnosis of remission. Needless to say, Mom and Dad are drowning in daily living expenses and medical bills. Mom is unable to work due to her own health issues (currently involving many cardiology appointments and a referral to neurology in October).
There have been several wonderful angels that have assisted them with financial gifts as they can over the past few months, but the bills are overflowing and they need all of the help they can get at this point. So, we adult children have decided to start a GoFundMe in hopes of rallying support for them and easing some of the burden. We have all heard "It takes a village", but it is not just with raising children. As a village, we can all make a difference to show Mom and Dad the love and support that they have always given to everyone else around them. They are the kind of people that will do anything they possibly can for someone in need or just to show them kindness. They have taken in many other children over the years and raised them as their own, while their parent(s) got their feet back under them. That is just one example of their hearts. There are thousands of more examples!!
If you have even $5 to help lessen the financial burden they are currently carrying, please share it with them. If you are able to do more, please do so. If we all work together, we can achieve this goal easily! I have set this goal based off of current medical bills, expected medical bills (maximum out of pocket deductibles), and daily living expenses for Mom and Dad through the end of January 2019 (with hopes Dad will be able to return to work in January).
