Jeff Rushing & Paul Coker Family
On the morning of June 8th, Jeff Rushing and Son-in-law Paul Coker were in a tow truck headed to do a pick up, as they had done together hundreds of times before. They are buddies even more than most Father and Son-in-laws are. When Paul isn't at work, or caring for his family, he is with Jeff helping any way he can.
On this trip, though, they were in a horrific accident. Both were separately airlifted to Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, finding extensive injuries.
Along with being a caring husband to Mavis, and father of 4 to Kelly, Brandi, Hanna and Matthew, Jeff Rushing is well known in Tylertown and surrounding areas for 35 yrs of being your go-to tow truck driver, smiling friend, and owner/operator of Rushing's Diesel and Tire shop since 1997.
Paul Coker is a loving husband to Kelly and father of 4 to Carter, Parker, Bentlee and Saylor. He has supported his family by working in the oil and gas industry for over 10 years. On his time off, he loves to cook for his family and chooses to spend his extra time riding shotgun with Jeff.
Jeff and Paul are both kind, witty, always eager to help others, and love to pick on each other. Both of these men are truly one of a kind!
Now they lie hospital beds apart, fighting for themselves, their family, and worrying about each other.
Several people have reached out wanting to help this family who is always giving, never taking! Also, we know expenses will pile up as the wives, a mother and daughter, are restlessly by their husbands side and hours away from home.
Jeff has had surgery to correct a separated pelvis. He also has 14 broken ribs and a broken sternum. His lungs needs in inflate a little better so he is currently on a ventilator
Paul has a bleed on his brain and a broken collar bone. Doctors are monitoring him very closely. He did respond to a "thumbs up" command earlier so that is GREAT news! He remains unconscious and on a ventilator.
We are very hopeful and staying positive. Both of these strong men have a long road of recovery ahead.
