This fund is for Jeff Driver, and being done on behalf of all his many friends such as yourself. Let's start with good news. After being in the hospital for 9 weeks, Jeff has finally been able to return home to continue his recovery. Funds raised here will largely go to help pay for home care and therapy, because if you have been around anyone with such a need, you'll know that insurance doesn't cover nearly enough of that. It is easy to let money be an obstacle to getting all the help you really need, for as long as you need it. We can help reduce that obstacle for Jeff.
BACKGROUND
As you will probably know, Jeff has been suffering from a variety of maladies for the past few years. His initial renal cancer most recently traveled to his adrenal gland, which had to be removed. While in surgery they also removed his gall bladder and repaired a hernia, which had been caused by the daily strains of not being able to keep food down for a long, long time. Until about a week before his release home, he had not been able to eat solid food for months. He hasn’t been well in over a year, with surgery complications providing the bulk of his suffering. Heart attack, nerve injury, abscess, septic shock, internal bleeding, blood clots, weakness, etc., and being sick and tired of being sick and tired. He has been through the wringer, and of course Betty and Ashley have as well.
The good news I started with is even better than you might think, as it has only been a few short weeks since more than one of his doctors didn't think he would make it to another day. Jeff said the only thing that saved him were our prayers. If you are like me, you probably wanted to do more than that, even as important as those prayers were and are.
Three years ago when my wife was going through chemo and things seemed bleak, a friend started a gofundme for Traci. Considering the staggering costs of serious medical treatment these days, you might think my goal here of $1000 won't go far. I hope we surpass that for sure, but I want to let you know first hand that whatever we can raise will help them a lot, both materially and spiritually, as it did for us when we were in need.
