Ken's Wheelchair Fund

Many of you know our family's story.  Dad has had Multiple Sclerosis since before any of us girls were born. Even though none of us girls knew that Dad had MS for a long time, we have slowly watched our father's health decline as we grew older. Watching him go from being able to walk and run to using a cane. Watching him go from pretending the car was out of control to having to give up driving completely. Most recently, its been watching him get around in a wheelchair. Our family has never really been  normal (as anyone who has met us knows), but we have watched God provide for us over and over again before we even knew we needed it.

Here we are again, faced with an impossible feat. However, we know that nothing is impossible when we have a loving and gracious God. We have an opportunity to get Dad a wheelchair that will make everyday life so much easier for him. Falling has been a huge concern as Dad often has to move from his current wheelchair to another chair because his current wheelchair just isn’t comfortable or beneficial to his health. With this new wheelchair he can adjust the chair to tilt/recline, which with allow him to be able to stay in it for longer, and the added bonus of helping him get better blood circulation. This chair also has an elevation feature that will allow him to be able to reach the things that his current wheelchair is too low to reach. The new wheelchair is motorized and anymore having a push chair drains too much strength/energy from him. This chair is doctor prescribed and even though MS is incurable this chair will make life easier as his health declines. Insurance will cover some of the cost for the chair but our portion is $5,700. We just don’t have the money to pay it. The insurance has approved this until mid-January. If we don’t pay 50% of our portion by the end of December, Dad will lose this window and possibly have to wait another 6 months and have several more doctors visits before being able to get this approval again. We have been blessed by our friends and family before and we are excited to see how God will provide this time. We are blessed you are a part of our story.
