Roland and Jeanne Boudreaux were high school sweethearts and have been married for 21 years!
They have a beautiful daughter, Lindsey, who is a senior at East Ascension High School, so talented and full of personality!
On February 27, 2017 Roland was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic gastric cancer. The primary tumor is located in the stomach, but the cancer has spread outside of his stomach to the peritoneum. The peritoneum is a membrane that lines the abdomen and covers all of the abdominal organs.
After many visits to MD Anderson and chemotherapy, Jeanne and Roland are exploring options at National Institutes of Health (NIH). They will be traveling to Bethesda, Maryland in early March to meet with a team of doctors who will determine if he is eligible for further treatment and possible surgery. Because of the experimental nature of these options and procedures, insurance will not cover the preliminary treatments or expenses. If deemed eleigible, he may qualify for a research study which will have the costs of treatments covered, but not their travel expenses.
Travel and lodging will be expensive, and the family will potentially have to stay in Maryland for several weeks once all tests are complete. So, we are here to help!
