Jean Norwood Memorial Fund

Way back when Marcus was surrounded by cow pastures and Morriss Road was a one lane road the powers that be decided that Marcus should have an AFJROTC unit. In 1988 a robust man with a strong cajun accent showed up with a Major in tow. That robust man was SMSgt Fred Norwood and the Major in tow was Elbert Johnson.  After a year Major Johnson decided to make his way up north but SMSgt Norwood stayed and became a legend in the halls of Marcus High School. During his tenure at Marcus the school became surrounded by building and houses and Morriss is a main thuroughfare. Many students looked up to him as a mentor and even a father figure. He was there for thousands of students through thick and thin. Behind that man was a wonderful, loving wife; Jean. Jean stayed in the back ground allowing her husband to be our mentor and friend for many years. She loved how much he was able to help the children. Many nights were spent alone because duty called and SMSgt Norwood always answered the call.
Now it is our turn to answer the call. Jean, that loving patient wife has found her wings and we need to be there for SMSgt Norwood as he was for us for all those years. Please give as little or as much as you can.
I would like to send a spray of flowers to let the family know we care but also raise money to donate to SMSgt Norwoods charity of choice or he can use it to help raising Ajah his great granddaughter.
