WHO IS ILLALE JEREMIAH & WHAT HELP DOES HE NEED?

Illale Jeremiah, a 3 month old "miracle baby" with a life-threatening genetic syndrome & his immigrant parents really need your help with the not-so-sexy funding of the basics of shelter, food, safety, plus child disability specialty supplies.

A MIRACLE BABY!

This little boy is beating the odds! 90% of boys with Trisomy 18, an extra 18th chromosome, don't make it past the first week -- but a very few make it through childhood and adolescence.  It's terribly scary for his parents and it is slowly sinking in that his life is precarious, and his disabilities will likely be pretty severe.  Despite the bad news, they named their son Illale Jeremiah; Illale means "gratitude."

THEIR NOT-SO-SEXY NEEDS:

Imagine your child clinging to life, you're hovering over him in the hospital, and worrying that you will be evicted if you can't come up with the rent.  English is not your first language and you're hearing daily frightening medical reports that would be hard to understand even in your native language. You're scared to death about your child's fate and on top of that, you also have to worry that your car will be repossessed or break down again, your heat will be disconnected, and your cell phones turned off.

The family desperately needs help with:

·      Monthly rent
·      Used car payment and a surprise repair bill
·      Car insurance
·      Utilities
·      Cell phones
·      Diapers and Wipes
·      Gas to/from William's new job & to/from the hospital.

WHAT SPECIAL DISABILITY-RELATED ITEMS WILL ILLALE JEREMIAH NEED?

As Illale Jeremiah grows, he will need specialty items for a child with significant disabilities, including:
·      Portable ramp
·      Special disability crib
·      Special car seat, and possibly an accessible van
·      Special foot-ware to fit over braces
·      Car seat adapters, activity standers
·      Specialized scooter, toileting & bathing equipment
·      Wheelchair
·      Communication Device
·      And a myriad of other items for his special needs.

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING TO HIM SO FAR?

Jeremiah has spent his short life ping-ponging between the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and home.
As we launch his Go Fund Me campaign, he is again back in Children's Hospital following seizures and breathing problems. Once he is released, again, and stabilizes at home,  he will need an operation on his mouth.  For sure he will not be a "day care" baby; he is too vulnerable.

SUPPORT REFUGEES?  HERE'S YOUR CHANCE!

Jeremiah's parents are refugees from South Sudan. When their villages were attacked
in the long and bloody Civil War, they were among thousands of teenagers, the "lost boys and girls," who walked hundreds of miles to safety in a refugee camp in Kenya.  Illale Jeremiah's mom, Concenta,
arrived in the US approximately 10 years ago, got citizenship after 7 years, and then brought over her longtime love, William, who is Illale Jeremiah's dad.

ARE THE PARENTS WORKING

Things started to fall apart in Concenta's 9th month last November, when she fell ill and had to quit her job.  Because of an immigration glitch, it took 2 years!! for William to get his green card, which finally arrived in January!  In between cuddles with his son, he sat in the hospital sending out resumes and starts an entry level job this coming week on the factory swing shift!!! What a relief!  As for Concenta, she has a brand new baby clinging to life who needs to be fed every two hours, and who has been hospitalized a lot in his brief life.  It would be fairly impossible for her to start a job and then leave for 10 more days in Intensive Care.

WHY $36,000?

18 is the Biblical number for “life.”  So we have set this campaign goal for $36,000, or “Twice-Life.”
This will help the family with the basics: housing, car and insurance payments, phones, utilities while William slowly catches them up, and also provide for Jeremiah’s needs due to his disabilities.
