Honoring Alberto's Life

Dear Community,

Alberto was just 10 years old when he was diagnosed with a rare heart condition that doctors at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Stanford, called Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension. Lucia, Alberto’s mom, took him to many of his appointments and made sure he took all his medications. As a single mom, she did everything she could to keep him healthy and happy. His health didn’t stop Alberto from being himself; a jokester, sweet, loving, mischievous, and caring young man. He participated in school activities, events and frequently visited the front office to take his medication. He was always telling jokes and making kids and staff laugh.

About two weeks ago he had a severe heart complication that caused heart failure. He passed away yesterday, July 27, 2021 surrounded by his mom and family at the tender age of 13. At this time, we are calling on our community to help support Alberto’s mom, Lucia. Alberto was her only child and she has a small family that has been her pillar throughout these hard times. All funds will be used for funeral expenses to lay him to rest.

Alberto tenía solo 10 años cuando le diagnosticaron una rara afección cardíaca que los médicos del Hospital Lucile Packard Children's en Stanford, diagnosticaron como hipertensión pulmonar idiopática. Lucía, la mamá de Alberto, lo llevó a muchas de sus citas y se aseguró de que tomara todos sus medicamentos. Como madre soltera, hizo todo lo posible para mantenerlo sano y feliz. Su salud no impidió que Alberto fuera un joven bromista, dulce, cariñoso, travieso y cariñoso. Participó en actividades escolares, eventos y con frecuencia visitaba la oficina principal para tomar su medicación. Siempre estaba contando chistes y haciendo reír a los niños y al personal.

Hace unas dos semanas tuvo una complicación cardíaca grave que le provocó insuficiencia cardíaca. Falleció ayer, 27 de julio, rodeado de su mamá y su familia a la tierna edad de 13 años. En este momento, estamos pidiendo a nuestra comunidad que ayude a apoyar a la madre de Alberto, Lucía. Alberto era su único hijo y tiene una pequeña familia que ha sido su pilar durante estos tiempos difíciles. Todos los fondos se usarán para sepultarlo.
