JD Cronkrite's Medical Expenses

As most of you know, John David (aka JD) has been in the hospital since October 5th fighting cardiac disease.  John David suffers from a genetic heart disorder that was not discovered until he was 35 years old.  Back in 2002, he suffered a massive heart attack that resulted in a quadruple bypass.  The disorder he has is that his body produces more bad cholesterol than good cholesterol.  The physician stated that his arteries started blocking when he was very young.  After his surgery, the physicians told us that he would be lucky to live another 15 years.

In March, 18 years later, he was taken to the hospital for pneumonia. While in the hospital, it was discovered his heart function was low.  They ended up doing a cardiac cath procedure and discovered that out of the four bypassed arteries, 2 were 100% blocked, 1 was 90% blocked and the other one was 70%.  At that time, they performed a high-risk procedure and was able to place stents in the two arteries that were not completely blocked.  This procedure brought his heart function up to around 30%.  In August, they ended up doing another procedure that placed a defibrillator and pacemaker in his heart.  Unfortunately, after this procedure, his defibrillator would consistently go off.  On October 5th, he had another procedure to perform a heart ablation.  This procedure was to cauterize the nerve endings on the scar tissue in his heart, so it would not trigger the defibrillator.  Unfortunately, John David ended up coding twice which caused the physicians to stop the procedure.  They ended up placing him on a ventilator and putting him in Cardiac ICU.  He was later transferred to Baylor Plano Heart hospital where they placed him on ECMO and installed an Impella heart pump.  John David has been fighting for his life the last two weeks. 

 I have decided to create this go-fund-me account to help Sandy and the girls.  They have had additional medical costs this year and not having John David’s complete salary has created financial constraints on them.  If you can help support them, it would be greatly appreciated and help reduce their financial worries.  We really appreciate everyone’s prayers and words of encouragement during this difficult time.  Over the last 18 years, John David has had a positive outlook on life and has always said, “I will live as long as God wants me too, so I can not stress daily about it.”
