Help a Hero with a the service dog

Donation protected
Jason Powell is a USAF veteran who has battled pain and trauma for most of his life. Any one of his traumatic incidents are enough to break a person, but up until now, he has fought to maintain a "normal" life and "deal" with the pain. Along with daily physical pain, Jason suffers severe PTSD.

Jason's constant pain coupled with PTSD has come to a point when managing it all is more and more difficult. His daily routine, friendships, work and social life have all been affected by this painful disability.

Most people who suffer with PTSD frequently require meds and sometimes become addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. Jason's life has been free of drugs and alcohol. Therefore, his options of dealing with the pain are limited.

One of the few options Jason has is a service dog.

Through the 501 (c) (3) organization, Give Us Paws  , Jason now has an opportunity to get a service dog. He adopted Jeon, a boxer from Lone Star Boxer Rescue and the next step is to get Jeon specifically trained to assist Jason with his PTSD.

Give Us Paws will train Jeon but we need to raise funds for training. The cost of training is $2800.

Aside from training, there are other costs associated with a service dog including his vests, IDs, harnesses and more.

TWO WAYS TO DONATE:
1. GIVE US PAWS  - GOAL $2800 These donations are tax-deductible.
Go directly to this link. The funds donated here are specifically for training of Jeon to be Jason's service dog.

*Our goal here is $2800. Anything raised over this amount through this link will be donated directly to Give Us Paws and assisting other vets. Via Give Us Paws website "Give Us Paws reserves the right to move donated money as it sees fit for the purpose of furthering our mission. Any funds received over and above the budget of the solicited purpose will be put into the general fund."

2. GO FUND ME - GOAL $2000
Donations here are also greatly appreciated. Though not tax deductible, these donations will help greatly with all of the other costs associated with getting Jeon established as a service dog.  These costs include special vests, harnesses, IDs and more

Anything helps. Jason has given so much to those he loves and to his country. We hope to help him in his never-ending battle and possibly give him some peace.

WISH LIST
There is a wish list at the bottom of this page for specific items needed.  You can donate toward a portion of an item or for a whole item.

WHAT IS A PTSD SERVICE DOG?
Once fully trained, the dogs are able to assist disabled individuals to accomplish daily tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. Each dog's training is customized to the individual needs of the disabled handler. The dogs can be trained to perform many services including, but not limited to:

*Recognize and avert PTSD episodes
*Provide "cover" for the handler during episodes of anxiety or depression
*Nudge handler out of bed in the morning
*Recognize nightmares and wake their handler
*Pick up and retrieve items
*Retrieve an emergency phone
*Alert a caregiver
*Help with chores, such as laundry
*Take off shoes and socks
*And many others...

Perhaps the most beneficial remedies are the companionship, unconditional love and devotion a dog can provide to their lifelong partners. Once a strong bond forms between the person-dog relationship, the dog's trust, devotion, and a desire to please will follow.
