Citrus Heights PD Project Lifesaver

The Citrus Heights Police Department partnered with Project Lifesaver in 2013 to find a proactive solution to protect those most vulnerable in our community  and wander due to a cognitive disorder. A cognitive disorder can include Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism, Downs Syndrome.
Since our inception we have been able to reach out and help dozens of families and caregivers by supplying each client with a wearable device that can be tracked using a unique radio frequency. Our goal is to supply the program to our citizens at no cost to the caregiver. We have been able to reach this goal so far by relying on contributions from local businesses and service organizations.
Now that our program has been a success for the last three years, this is where you come in! We are seeking funding to push this program to the next phase by incorporating the equipment into our partnering agencies helicopters to allow for aerial searches. This would expand our search radius from one mile to five miles which would shorten the time that it took to locate the missing person.
Project Lifesaver is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that bridges the technological gap for “at risk” populations and public safety agencies.
Project Lifesaver has over 1,400 participating member agencies throughout 48 states in the U.S., six provinces in Canada, and Australia, and has performed 3,104 searches over the last 17 years with no serious injuries or fatalities ever reported. Project Lifesaver provides equipment, training, certification and support to law enforcement, public safety organizations and community groups throughout the country and nation.
