While the U.S. has begun its recovery, in India the pandemic is the worst it has ever been, and conditions are expected to decline before improving. The nationwide infection toll has reached nearly 400,000 new cases per day. A total of 190,000 people have died from coronavirus in India, while more than 16.6 million have been infected.
India is experiencing a deadly wave of coronavirus deaths, and hospitals are unable to meet the demand for treatment. People desperate for medical care are struggling to pay for oxygen and medication. Due to the lockdown, millions of Indians who have been without work for weeks are facing hunger as the country battles the coronavirus outbreak. They are vendors, daily wage earners, contract workers, and migrant laborers who have been without work and earnings.
As India works tirelessly to contain the pandemic, let us lend a hand to make sure that no one goes hungry.
In JCI, we strongly believe That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations and that service to humanity is the best work of life.
In light of the dire situation, JCI New York City is partnering with JCI Poona to help tackle hunger. JCI Poona has already distributed 600 packets of meals on 25 April 2021.
A little donation on our behalf can ensure that food reaches more homes in the month of May.
Kindly note that donations will be accepted until 14 May 2021. Following the donations, the amount collected will be officially transferred to JCI Poona which will help in the purchase of groceries and ensure their timely distribution within the month of May.
In our journey towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger, let us ensure that No One Is Left Behind.
