2021 Ottawa West Winter Trail

Donation protected
The Ottawa West Winter Trail (OWWT) has had a stellar first official season, and it's been wonderful to see all the users enjoying it this winter. We have been doing some fund-raising through our website but we would like to do a big last push this season, using this GoFundMe platform, with a goal of raising $5000.

#1.  If you have enjoyed the trial and wish to see it continue, and trails like the DND Loop and Carling Extension (connecting to the Britannia Winter Trail) become permanent with more regular grooming then we urge you to donate.
#2.  Kanata Nordic is looking at some additional equipment purchases to support the incremental grooming needs of the OWWT, such as a groomer with deployable wheels and a new roller.
#3.  The Carling Extension in particular is a challenge for us to groom as we don't have wheels on our grooming machine for the road crossings and thus only used the roller this year. This would be the case too, if we were ever to want to expand onto Trail 10 north of Carling, or south on the Trans Canada Trail/Great Trail towards Timm Drive
#4.  We have seen an increase in the number of people using the trail compared to last year when it was just a pilot project. This is a GOOD THING, but with it comes higher expectations, more grooming and maintenance which costs more money.
#5.  To accommodate the larger number of people and to provide safer spacing, and also to provide what we think were excellent conditions, we considerably widened the trail this year, requiring more kilometers of grooming
#6.  Consider donating $1 for every KM you've skied or used this season!
#7.  The NCC has hinted at a pro-rated rebate on Gatineau passes, so consider donating a portion of the amount you spent on your Gatineau pass
#8. 1400 people follow this FB page, if just 1/10th of you donated ~$35 each, we would make our goal!

This multi-use urban winter trail is welcoming and inclusive to all forms of winter activity, be it walking, classic cross-country skiing, skate cross-country skiing, winter biking, snow shoeing, or dog-walking! This is an opportunity for everyone to get out into the fresh air during the snowy months.
The Ottawa West Winter Trail is a community led initiative run by a group of dedicated volunteers. The Kanata Nordic Ski Club operates the OWWT to provide the public with a free multi-use winter wonderland. Kanata Nordic Ski Club is the beneficiary of these funds and is a registered not-for-profit organization.

Thank you for your continued support!
